Micro-teaching with Naokofu

I did micro-teaching with Naokofu last week. We taught "Can Anyone Here Me?" I write about my teaching below.

●The objectives of your pre-reading and in-reading activities
I wanted students to think outline of story through pre-reading, and to grasp the story through in-reading. So we used pictures of a shrine, storm, hole and man. And we wanted students to read many times. Though we made students read, we really wanted them to read many times. But we couldn't do it because we had no time.

● The strengths and weaknesses
*The strength
・We predict to ask students "what words did you hear?" before Mr,Naokofu read the textbook. We wanted them to hear carefully by doing it.
・We wrote handout in English. At first we wrote it in Japanese. But we was given the advice to better to write in English by Scarlet. And we did rewrite. This is time of English lesson. So it was better!

*The weaknesses
・Chance to make students read the textbook was too few. We wanted them to read by various way.
・I couldn't react to students who don't try to solve questions in handout well. Mr,hall acted the bad boy, but I didn't know what to do.

I was under tension. Especially I couldn't smile well during the class. And I couldn't instruct with clear voice. I found that teaching stress. But I enjoyed the micro-teaching. I could find good point and bad point of my teaching, and I knew many difficulty of teaching. I want to do my best in my practice teaching to not to forget the lesson.
Finally it took many time for our micro-teaching, so other group couldn't use time sufficiently for their teaching. I'm sorry!!!
Thank You for reading. And thank you, Naokofu!!

Micchi,
Thank you for your teaching. I enjoyed your class and learned many things from it.
I liked your pre-reading activity very much. It was interesting to get students to say the words that they could catch in the story. I want to try this way of pre-reading in the future.
But you should have had more time to get students to read or speak English since it was a reading lesson. Also, JET would do better to speak English more, I think.
Anyway you did a good job. And I think it would be a good experience for you. Thank you.

Hi Micchi! I'm micche.
I enjoyed your class very much!
Especially I think your good point was using picture as pre-reading activity. I was easy to think outline of the story so much. Also though you wrote you couldn't smile well during the class and you couldn't instruct with clear voice, I think you were very cheerful and I could understand your intensity. So you should have confidence to your teaching more!!
Finally the activity of getting new words before reading text book was a little difficult, I thought. But I understood that this activity was done to listening to Naokofu's reading carefully. So I think it is the very useful way to that now!
But I'd like to read the story and speak English more.
Anyway your class was so interesting!
Thank you for your teaching☆

Hello!
I think your teaching English is very good way. Especially, your work sheat is easy to understand the story. I could grasp flow of the story, and your explaining with pictures is also nice idea.
End of class, you taught us about next class. It is important thing.
And your help was so kind for me. You looked students carefully!
But,as you wrote, it took too much time. I think you will do better to teach pre-reading or in-reading.
Anyway, I like your teaching! Thank you for your teaching.

Hi,Micchi! Thank you for your teaching! I liked your in-reading activity. It was new idea for me and students may concentrate on the story as you hoped to. I think that it was better to make students think about the topic or story after listening. I couldn't understand whether you wanted us to imagine the context or learn new words in the class. We had good practice to read the sentences and we could understand the story with pictures, but the worksheet was a little difficult for ths students who are not good at English. Anyway I could learn many points from your class. Good job! See you!

Micchi,
I really liked your lesson even though I was being very uncooperative. I learned how difficult it is to maintain a bad attitude throughout a lesson when the teachers are trying hard to get you involved in the class!
I also did not realize that you were nervous. I think that you hid your nervousness well.
Your pre-reading activity was very interesting. I think that I will try it myself. However, after students said the words I think it would have been a good idea to talk about the theme of the story. For example, after writing the words on the board you could have asked, “What do you think this story is about?”
I thought your summary of the story at the ending or your lesson should have been done in ENGLISH using the pictures. The pictures can give students hints to help them understand what the teacher is saying so please use them! You could have used Japanese to confirm the answers to your questions about the reading before you did the summary. Also, I think that your questions could have been written easier. Questions 2 & 3 would have been difficult for students to understand. I would have rewritten the questions like this:
2. What did the storm do?
3. What did people find the next day?
Question 4 should be changed to “Someone called into the hole. What DID he SAY?”
Overall, you did a good job and I think that you and Naojin should be very proud of your efforts.

I enjoyed your class because we could practice to read the textbook in various way.

Hi!This ia Nakki.Thank you for your teaching!
Not looking at the textbook at first and listening to the teacher had students concentrate the class very much. And you had students read textbook two ways.I think it was good point! It is very important that teachers give students reading chance by various way to get used to English and not to bore.
Lastly, your summary of the story was very interesting and effective!
I enjoyed your teaching☆

Hello, Naojin and Micchi.
Your handout was so cool! I agree and try to use this form.
Though let's face it. I could imagine what you want to do, but it took too long time. That was "Micro" teaching, so should we act and choose some part of teaching?(I can say other groups)
Your sense was nise, so you will be good teacher.

Hello, Micchi! This is Pizza.
I think your pre-reading activity, listening the words without text book was very effective of atracting students' attention. And the worksheet helped us to understand the contents.
If there is more time, it would be better for the teacher to read the text book more in the pre-reading activity to have the students listen to the key words.
Thank you for your teaching!

Thank you for your class.
I had interested in the picture. Did you draw that? That was helpful for English leaner. A visualised teaching materials will make student have a interest and attract a class. We studied a new words at fist. As for this class, a focus was set of not only the new words and phrases but also the contents of the textbook. And you helped student who answered a Question. That's nice.

I am very sorry for late comment. I think your teaching respected the time of “thinking”. We imagined many possibilities of the story. That was one of the reasons that we pulled the contents. I was very impressed by your affirmative attitude for students. Thank you for good teaching.
